I have my sources! They're really quite mysterious. [she told him at some point. He's being coy.] Galu, birthday girl! [Then he improvises a Sindarin phrase that boils down to "I wish that the sun will meet you again many times". Julien has a distorted Rivendell accent.]
[Although she had echoed back the ability to speak the language some time ago, but she had not actively spoken it before now. His praise caused to to respond with out thinking.]
Le hannon, glass nín le achened!
[And then she blinked in surprise as she paused on the other end of the phone with a long silence. ]
[He rarely fakes laughter anymore, but since this is a phone call and she can't see his face, he does it. It sounds convincing anyway. He then slightly flubs the grammar telling her "Though I can't see you this makes me glad to hear".]
[At this point she is realising that she is speaking another language but isn't sure how to stop since she is having a hard time differentiating between english and sindarin. ]
Lin, words bring glass to nin guren.
[And then with a lot more difficulty she manages to snap back into english.]
Man, those are the worst. Sometimes they take a while to kick in. I know I've had pulses and I don't know what they did.
Knowing Sindarin's not a bad thing though. Teagan pulsed it back just before he moved away, that left me the only one who knew it. Guy who taught me went off-network.
Enough to get most things across, even if I'm pretty sure I've got a bunch of holes. I started teaching Thorir a few months ago, and I've gotten better since. It's hard to stay fluent in a language if you can't speak it with anyone!
- here, give me a second.
[He stops for a bit, then says basically "I can speak not perfectly but well enough. I teach Thorir and have grown. Sindarin is hard without others to speak to."]
[She tilts her head at the other end of the phone, listening to his words.]
I understood that... Let me try to speak it now...
[Taking a breath, she thought about speaking in the other language and a little haltingly did so: "Your words are good, together we might learn to speak it even better."]
[It wasn't like she could help it! The language was part of her past and for a moment she feared it might become part of who she was. English was growing fuzzy as more sindarin words rushed into her head.
"I'm sorry! It's not like I am trying to surpass you. The words are... flowing easily.]
[By now Ariel is starting to get a handle on speaking Sindarin, but she I'd still struggling to think of English words. To facilitate talking normally again, she starts putting in effort to not use Sindarin.]
Right. I'm sure. You'll speak it better than him no matter what. But we should speak English more now.
