IC Information:
Name: Tauriel/ Ariel Boisvert (Sölvason)
Canon and medium: Tolkien Verse and Movie
Age: 23/ Tauriel is 600 in the movie.
Preincarnation Species: Elf
Preincarnation Appearance:

Any differences: Ariel will have lost her elven hearing and therefore her nifty pointy elven ears. Aside from that not much will have physically changed.
Starting Location: Locke City
Preincarnated History:
Tauriel serves as the captain of the Guard in Mirkwood. Given her relatively young age and the fact that she holds such a prestigious title as captain of the guard, as well as the line that Thranduil has always been good to her, it might be assumed that she was a ward of Thranduil's. Hence her rise to prominence despite being a lowly Silvan elf. She was raised within Thranduil's Halls a ward of the Woodland Realm because of her parents death due to orcs.

She and Legolas come across the party of dwarves as they were fighting against some pretty nasty looking spiders. After killing the spiders, they take the dwarves hostage because they want to know why they are in Mirkwood. In between the fighting of spiders and the escape of dwarves, she and Kili share a moment or two which sets the Dwarf to crushing on the elf.

When the Dwarves escape, she, and those under her command, chase after them. As they pursue the dwarves, they discover that an orc warband is just as interested in the dwarves as the elves are. Regardless, the battle of the river commences where the elves and the dwarves both start fighting the Orcs. The dwarves escape, thanks in no small part to the help of the Elves. Tauriel and Legolas bring back an orc for questioning, but Tauriel is dismissed. Before she leaves however, she learns that Kili is badly injured, which more than likely spurred her decision to defy the king. While Thranduil and Legolas are busy with the Roc, Tauriel slips out to follow the Dwarves. Although she later tells Legolas that she is hunting the orcs who dared to traipse across their lands, it clear that she is worried about Kili since the orc mentioned quite specifically they poisoned the black haired archer.

She argues with her BFFy Legolas, and then convinces him to go with her to chase down the Orcs who are hunting the Dwarves. Along the way, she finds Kili and heals him using Athelas and elven healing powers before she and Legolas ride off into the sun moonset, presumably to continue the orc hunting.

Reincarnated History: Ariel Boisvert was born to her parents Askell Sölvason and her mother Victorine Boisvert, a first generation American from French-Canadian parents had immigrated to the states. Although her parents were married, she took the last name of her mother to keep things simple due to the naming conventions of her father's native country. Her parents Askell and Victorine had met in college in an outdoor photography class that was being offered. Her father had come to America from Iceland with the hopes of becoming a famous photographer, while her mother was an Environmental Science major with an interest on conservation and the preservation of the Earth's natural resources. She was also a hobbyist photographer who delighted in taking picture of nature and the outdoors.
Although her father was more into the runway style of photography, he also enjoyed taking pictures of wildlife and even began incorporating wildlife into his work where he would mix fashion and wildlife into what he called "fusion Photography". Usually, this incorporated him bringing models out into the wilderness for photo shoots, or occasionally bringing nature to the models in the form of "wild animals" to the photo shoots.

Ariel's mother on the other hand would tour the country, raising awareness about wildlife conservation and why it was so important. As a result, Ariel traveled around a lot, moving from place to place as she visited national parks and photography studios alike. When she was three, her sister Claire was born. Right from the start, she and Claire never got along. Claire took after their father, while Ariel favored her mother. From a young age Claire wanted to be a model and would often spend hours playing dress-up and running around, demanding that people take pictures of her with the disposable cameras Askell gave her. Ariel couldn't stand this, figuring her sister only did it to be an attention seeker.
When she was fifteen, Ariel discovered that her father had been having a string of affairs and one night stands with models for several years. She went to her mother hoping to find her just as outraged at Askell's infidelity, only to discover that her mother had been aware of it for years and was borderline indifferent to her husband's behavior, so long as it remained discreet and he continued to provide support to the family. Further wounded by her mother's lack of indignation, she ran away from home and spent two whole weeks "lost". She was later found two states away trying to hitch a ride to San Francisco. She was brought back home and grounded for a month, but as soon as she was able, she tried to run away again. She spent an entire summer locked in a battle of wills with her parents, determined to leave and even going so far as to declare herself an emancipated adult (without legally doing so). There was even talk of having her home schooled to keep her flight risk down to a minimum. Her dramatic behavior did accomplish one thing, even if it was not her freedom. Her parents started talking to each other. Further more, they worked out a lot of their problems. Askell stopped sleeping around with other women and Victorine let go of all her pent up emotions. Even Claire was less of a pain to be around, though she and Ariel still didn't see eye to eye on almost anything. That didn't mean her family was fixed however. It just meant that they were more willing to say what was on their minds. As time passed, some things started going back to the way t hings were. Her mom started to bottle up emotions again, and suffer from bouts of passive aggressive mood swings. Claire continued to be an attention seeker, but like her mother, she rarely admitted to true emotions. Ariel and her dad reconciled, actually becoming the closest they had in years.

In the autumn of 2013, her family finally decided to settle down for good in Locke City, due to familial ties to Askell's sister Mardis. Aunt Mardis was the only relation Askell had bothered keeping in touch with since they were both living in the states together. She helped them find a place to stay and also helped her brother find a place where he could set up a more permanent studio. Her mother, also was able to find a place to start a nonprofit conservation organization that worked in tandem with the local colleges to provide internships for college students looking to fulfill any extra curricular activities in the Environmental Science area.

Rather than go off to college when she was old enough, Ariel stuck around with her family, helping her mother with her charity works and going for nature hikes with her father while giving him fresh perspectives on his nature photography. She enrolled in online courses to obtain her general education. Because Ariel had grown up close to nature, she felt a strong kinship to it and wanted to do something to protect it. Having decided to become a park ranger, she finished the last of her courses at Locke University and then applied for and obtained a job at Gateway Recreational Park., located north of Locke City.  Since it was 2 hours away, Ariel had just  started looking for a place to live on her own when the events of the wise snake occurred. It caused her to rush back home in order to attend to her family and friends,

First Echo: Her first echo was triggered when she went into an antiques shop on a whim and saw a re-curved bow for sale, shoved in with miscellaneous golf clubs, umbrellas and walking canes. Although she had seen bows used on TV before, she had never had an urge to use one until now. Purchasing the bow along with some arrows from a near by sporting goods shop, she took the bow out to the nearest stretch of uninhabited land and began to practice with it. Or at least she thought she was going to practice using it... only her shots hit her chosen target, every single time without fail. In fact she had to actively work to make her arrows go off target.

Preincarnation Personality: Tauriel was fiercely independent and quick to action among the elves of the Woodland realm. She was also very territorial of the forest, wishing to preserve and protect it to the best of her abilities. And those abilities were considerable. As a Silvan elf, she possessed great skill with bow and arrow as well as with daggers. She had no qualms with heights or with difficult terrain as most of her life was spent arboreal. She also took a very hands on approach to most of the tasks she preformed. When she was assigned a task, she did it promptly and to the best of her abilities.

As a the captain of the guard, a great deal of responsibility was placed upon her to carry out the king's wishes and to over see the safety and protection of those within the Woodland realm, even if it was from those trespassing into it's borders. She also did not abuse her station, or the mild favoritism that Thranduil showed her, or at least she didn't abuse it much.
Tauriel did her best to follow orders and to do as she was told as she was for the most part very loyal and obedient, but occasionally youth and brashness would win out and she might try to argue with Thranduil or defy him in some way. But in the end, she always did as he commanded.

At least until she learned about Kili being shot with a poisoned arrow. Then, she defied Thranduil and went after him and the orc warband that traipsed across their boarders unchecked. Although she tended to be rash and quite bold, this departure from her king's side seemed to be an uncommon behavior for her. Although she said it was because she wished to figure out what the orcs were up to, there seemed to be a hint of compassion for Kili as well, which went against the common feelings most elves shared towards Dwarves. Upon finding Kili in lake town, she used the grace of the Eldar to heal Kili of the poison coursing though his veins, abandoning for a short time, Legoalas who continued the pursuit of the orcs through lake town. It is unclear in the movies exactly how she feels about Kili, but there seems to be a sort of attraction there not common among elves, which makes Tauriel out of sorts to the general ideas of her elven kin.

Any differences:
Ariel is even more defiant in this life to authority figures, even though she herself is learning to be one. She has a hard time trusting people, especially those who are seen as people with authority or power. She doesn't trust  people at face value, preferring to get to know someone, before believing anything they say. Some of this stems from the mistrust she feels towards her father, but the rest is also founded in her parents both having jobs where people lie constantly.

Due to the strife within her own family, Ariel is against things like marriage or settling down. She sees it as a way to open the door to heartbreak and betrayal. Due to her father's infidelity, she cannot stand the idea of one nightstands either. For her she is only interested in open relationships with a strong preference for friends with benefits. It will take time for her to actually enter a relationship with someone and even longer for her to feel secure in such a relationship. Such behavior is strictly out of thinking with way Elven society in middle earth works. For Tolkien elves there is no premarital sex,or relationships that exist outside of marriage. and once they marry, there is no divorce either.

Ariel is a lot more outspoken than her elven self. She doesn't hold back what she thinks or feels. Even if it hurts someone. She developed this attitude from moving around all the time, figuring that she would never stay in one place long enough to reap the repercussions of her words. She and her sister Claire used to get into shouting matches that would shake the whole house.

Ariel has a deep, deep love for the sea and for beaches. She loves them above all other places that she has ever been to. Not even old growth forests have the same appeal to her as seeing the endless horizon of the sea stretch out before her. She feels a greater appeal to the ocean, as she has a deep seated fear of heights. Any time she is up high, she starts to get dizzy spells and feels faint.

Abilities:
Elven traits common to all elves in Tolkienverse:
Once elves mature into an adult (about 100 years) They settle into the long summer of their life where they do not die unless the will to live leaves them or they are slain. They are resilient in many ways to death, able to come back from near fatal wounds and to live a long time without food or water. It takes great extremes to slay them, but it is possible. They have a resistance to most poisons and toxins and are able to go long distances without resting. They do not need sleep. Instead they are able to enter reverie which is like a meditative state where they were able to rest and regain strength and energy. This can even be done walking.

Elves can travel great distances walking and are light of foot, meaning they leave few tracks and can walk lightly across snow where others would soon find themselves encumbered. Their sight and hearing are excellent, allowing them to perceive things anyone else might miss. This gives them a preternatural ability to perceive the world about them. Elves seem to harbor ambidexterity, being equally good at doing things with both hands, though they still may have a dominant or preferred hand (say for wielding a sword or writing with). All elves have a touch of the healing gift, some being far better at it than others.

While it is not outright said, it appears that some elves also had telepathy, or at the very least the ability to communicate over long distances without the use of palantiri. This was a skill developed only after a long period but seemed most common among those who were of noble blood. The strongest among the telepaths being Galadriel. Tauriel does not exhibit this ability, so it is safe to assume that she does not possess the ability for telepathy, though someone may speak to her telepathically, she cannot do the reverse.

Elves possess magic as well, though Tauriel does not seem to posses as much magic probably because she is a Silvan Elf.

Tauriel Specifically:
She is skilled in archery as well as the use of fighting with daggers and can transition from ranged to melee combat easily. Her fighting style is similar to Legolas in ability as far as the daggers/long knives are concerned. She also is skilled at tracking and moving through the forest swiftly. Tauriel possesses high levels of agility, common to arboreal elves..

She also has a touch of the healing gift, as shown when she healed Kili's arrow wound.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Ariel cursed as she rolled out of bed and into the still dark morning. The cold of the predawn air hit her, making her wish she could dive back under the blankets, but she had a job to do. One that was going to take her two hours to get there. Grumbling to herself, she lurched towards the bathroom, feeling more dead than alive. The rush of water from the shower helped to revitalize her, but she still was grumpy as she stomped towards her kitchenette and the awaiting pot of coffee. If she didn't have a two hour drive ahead of her, she might have expedited her trip and gone to Starbucks for a custom tailored pick-me-up. But two hours was already long enough in a car. Even 10 minutes extra might push the limits of her tolerance, especially this morning. If she wasn't too busy being grumpy, she might have been nervous, knowing that this was her first day on the job.

On the job. Those words elected a special kind of pleasure out of her, almost causing her to smile as she poured herself a cup of coffee. Of course, as she was making her coffee, adding milk and sugar to taste, her eyes wandered towards the closet where the bow she'd bought from the salvo shop was resting. Part of her felt an overwhelming urge to grab it and take it with her, but she pushed that desire aside, feeling silly. Weapons were not permitted at recreational parks like Gateway so the urge to bring it was beyond stupid. This weekend, she'd find a firing range that would let her shoot a few arrows. She had been avoiding it, what with the most recent events effecting the world, but she couldn't help the strange hollow feeling when she was without the bow. When she was armed with it, she felt more confident, more sure of herself and her actions. It felt like she could do anything. Except, that shouldn't be the case while holding some archaic weapon. Some part of her wondered if this was what big game hunters felt like when they went after things armed with only a cross bow or bow. Of course they tended to use high tech recurved bows that had the tensile weight of a child's body mass. Plus she was trying to preserve nature and wildlife, not run around killing it for fun.

Roleplay Sample - Network: [Ariel pops up with a sort of smile as she leans towards the screen.]

So, who here has interesting hobbies? And by interesting, I mean outside the norm. I can't be the only one.

[She glances to one side looking past the screen towards the closet where she keeps her bow.]

Okay, well my... hobby isn't so unique since it's archery. But lemme tell you, the interesting part is actually what I can do with the bow. I'm not boasting, not really. Besides I'm sure other people are just as skilled as I am, if not more so.

Any Questions? Nyet. It's all good.
